Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) Alumni Association has unveiled plans to strengthen leadership development, governance reforms and community service initiatives, following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos.

The meeting brought together members of the alumni network to review past achievements, celebrate milestones and set priorities aimed at deepening impact in public service and leadership across sectors.

Chairperson of the Alumni Executive Council, Adepeju Balogun-Awe, said the association was committed to becoming a key voice in leadership and governance in the coming years.

“By 2035, we see Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy Alumni Association becoming a respected voice in leadership, governance and policy, a strong network of professionals shaping systems across sectors, and a trusted mentorship pipeline for emerging leaders.

“Our aim is not merely to occupy leadership spaces, but also to build pathways, strengthen institutions and lift others along the way,” she said.

According to Balogun-Awe, the development is expected to enhance the association’s institutional credibility and expand opportunities for strategic partnerships and long-term programmes.

She said as part of efforts to nurture emerging leaders, the association has also organised an interactive webinar for prospective fellows and applicants seeking admission into the academy, providing guidance and mentorship on the application process.

She said: “Looking ahead, the members have outlined plans to implement programmes focused on leadership development, democratic participation, wellness, career advancement and community engagement.”

She stressed the need for initiatives that would deliver measurable social impact.

Balogun-Awe reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration across sectors to support governance reforms, professional development and community-based initiatives.

Chairman of Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area, Seyi Jakande, noted the enduring legacy of leadership and public service associated with the institution.

LJLA Alumni Association comprises graduates of Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy and is dedicated to promoting leadership excellence, strengthening governance systems and fostering professional collaboration among fellows across diverse fields.
