With paper work concluded, Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) will begin to receive N7.19tr part of capital component of the 2025 budget this week, Minister Finance (State) Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite reaffirmed yesterday.

“The capital releases for 2025 will start this week,” she said, adding that overhead allocations were paid on Friday.

The 2025 capital expenditure stands at N23.96 trillion, with a focus on infrastructure, energy and road projects.

Uzoka-Anite explained that implementation and execution of the 2025 budget would run until next month.

“Implementation and execution of the 2025 budget will end next month,” said the minister.

Out of the total N23.96 trillion capital allocation, 30 per cent is now being released, while the remaining 70 per cent has been rolled over into the 2026 budget to ensure full execution of planned projects.

The minister first gave the hint of the impending cash-backing last week when she appeared along with other members of the Presidential Economy Team before the Senate Appropriation Committee to defend the 2026 budget.

The lawmakers raised question about the delay in funding the capital component of the 2025 budget.

While presenting the 2026 budget, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu consolidated the rolled over 2024 and 2025 budgets and asked the lawmakers to approve part implementation till March, 2026.

Thereafter, the 2026 budget will then take effect.
