The monarch of the Agboyi kingdom in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Adekambi Oladega (Akinmasa 1), has presented the document of a landed property he donated to the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross.

The presentation of the document, according to Oba Oladega, marked a significant milestone in the history of his ancient kingdom, following his visit to the headquarters of the Red Cross in London in 2023.

The monarch noted the impact of the Red Cross across the globe, one of which was the unprecedented financial empowerment the frontline humanitarian organization gave small-scale business owners in the Agboyi kingdom during the COVID lockdown in 2020.

Oba Oladega added that '' the presence of the Red Cross in Agboyi Island will not only expose the potentials of Agboyi to the world, it will also foster an enduring legacy between the people of Agboyi and the Red Cross International.''

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the Red Cross in Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Adebola thanked Oba Oladega for fulfilling a promise he made to donate a plot of land to the Lagos chapter of the Red Cross to build an office in the community.

She described the monarch as a seasoned and visionary leader with an impeccable leadership style, and for making good on a promise he made during his visit to the British Red Cross headquarters, noting that the gesture would give birth to more positive support from the British Red Cross.

The event was witnessed by traditional rulers in Agboyi kingdom, community leaders and state and national officers of the Red Cross International, including the organisation's legal adviser, Ms Sadiat Gbonjubola Olawoyin.
