Movie in the Park has announced a special Career Day edition scheduled for May 1, set aside nationwide to celebrate workers.
The organiser, Ihechi Opara, said the edition, powered by Campari, is designed to give workers an opportunity to unwind, relax and enjoy a refreshing atmosphere in recognition of their contributions to national development.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at appreciating the dedication and sacrifices of the workforce.

“This edition, as the name ‘career’ implies, is a day to celebrate workers in the country. I see it as a means to appreciate their efforts, sacrifices and dedication. There is a need for them to relax, enjoy the atmosphere and unwind while taking a break from work,” he said.
Earlier in the year, the 2026 national tour of Movie in the Park kicked off with its Valentine’s Day edition on February 14 at Muri Okunola Park, attracting over 3,000 guests for an evening that combined romance, cinema and live entertainment.
A major highlight of the event was the screening of Once Upon a Honeymoon, directed by Diane Russet, marking its first showing in Nigeria since release. The romantic feature set the tone for a celebration of love in its various forms, including relationships, friendships and shared community experiences.

The celebration culminated in an after-party with music, drinks and live R&B performances that kept guests entertained late into the night.
Opara described the Valentine’s edition as a rewarding experience, underscoring the growing appeal of the Movie in the Park initiative.
“I was incredibly happy to host an edition that truly celebrated love — not just romantic love, but friendship, companionship and community. Seeing thousands of people come together to share a film, laugh, win prizes and create memories reminded us why we started this platform.”
He added: “This Lagos edition sets the tone for what we envision across the country — safe, exciting spaces where young people and families can experience cinema in a fresh way. We’re proud that the first Nigerian screening of Once Upon a Honeymoon happened here, and we can’t wait to replicate this magic in other cities.”
For many attendees, the experience was unforgettable.
Amaka Johnson, said: “This was honestly the best Valentine’s Day I’ve had. From the movie to the giveaways and the live performances, everything felt intentional and well put together.”
Tobi Akinyemi, who attended with friends, stated: “The energy was amazing. Winning wasn’t even the highlight — just being part of something this big, with over 3,000 people celebrating love together, was special.”
With the Lagos edition successfully concluded, the next stop is Enugu as Movie in the Park continues its mission to bring open-air cinema and immersive entertainment experiences to audiences across Nigeria with its national tour happening this year.
