Plateau State governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the Christian community, sponsoring a record 1,100 pilgrims for the 2025/2026 pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan.
This gesture was announced at the Farewell Ceremony of the pilgrims, at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters in Jos on Saturday, where the Governor was represented by his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo.
In a stirring address, Governor Mutfwang urged the pilgrims to approach their sacred journey with reverence, humility, and an open heart, seeking spiritual growth and enlightenment.
He also called on them to pray fervently for Plateau State, Nigeria, and the attainment of lasting peace, emphasising the pivotal role faith plays in shaping the nation's future.
The Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Board, Wanson Bagu, revealed that the Governor's approval of the sponsorship has set the stage for Plateau State to likely receive an award for sponsoring the highest number of pilgrims in Nigeria for the second consecutive year.
Last year's sponsorship of 880 pilgrims earned the Governor a prestigious award from the National Christian Pilgrims Commission, a feat he is poised to repeat.

The Pilgrims board has introduced innovative measures to enhance the spiritual experience of the pilgrims, including a teaching manual on core values and the involvement of seminaries and religious leaders in the pilgrimage.
These initiatives aim to deepen the pilgrims' understanding of their faith and promote a culture of love, tolerance, and unity.
Rev. Bagu lauded Governor Mutfwang for his unwavering love for the Lord and commitment to Christian pilgrimage, noting that his actions have consistently demonstrated his faith and dedication to the Christian community.
The first batch of the pilgrims from Plateau State are expected to be airlifted tomorrow Sunday 22nd February 2026 from the Abuja International airport to the Holy land.
