Troops of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have killed suspected terrorists’ commanders and fighters in an air interdiction mission in the Sambisa area of Borno State.

The early morning strike, carried out on February 28 in the Yuwe general area, followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) that identified structures used as commanders’ hideouts and logistics warehouses.

NAF said its strike aircraft engaged the verified targets, destroying key infrastructure.

Post-strike assessments, backed by intelligence sources, confirmed the killing of senior commanders and fighters coordinating attacks within the theatre, the service added.

The operation, it said, also disrupted the group’s command-and-control structure and degraded its logistics network.

A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Commodore Ehimen Edojamen, said the NAF has maintained sustained ISR over the area to track and engage fleeing or regrouping elements.

Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the aircrew and supporting personnel for their professionalism.

He reaffirmed the service’s resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist enclaves.

“The NAF will continue to project decisive air power in close synergy with ground forces until every identified terrorist enclave is dismantled. We remain committed to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-led operations that protect our nation and restore enduring peace,” the statement added.
