The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is deepening its non-kinetic collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development through partnerships in agro-technology, livestock training for personnel and their families, and integration into national agricultural policies.
The collaboration aims to align national defence efforts with Nigeria’s agricultural renaissance and enhance food security.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the Ministry for the strides it has made since its establishment in 2024.
Represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Air Marshal Aneke lauded the ministries for accelerating the National Ranching Policy, forging strategic partnerships with Brazil and New Zealand focused on genetics and dairy production, and establishing National Livestock Centres to improve access to feed and water.
He informed the Minister that the NAF’s proposed partnership with the Ministry aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of enhancing food security, boosting local production, and strengthening sustainable livestock management.
The NAF boss also requested access to improved livestock breeds, veterinary support, and training opportunities for NAF personnel and their dependents in modern animal husbandry, farm management, and agrotech.
The Minister commended NAF’s Livestock Development initiative, describing it as “strategic and forward-thinking” and aligning with global best practices while linking food production to national security.
Mukhtar appreciated NAF’s broader efforts to combat insecurity across the nation, acknowledging that the stability and safety provided by the NAF are fundamental to enabling agricultural and livestock development.
At the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the NAF boss lauded the Minister, Abubakar Kyari, for his emergency measures to curb rising food prices, expand dry-season farming initiatives, and strengthen strategic food reserves, among other achievements.

He sought the Minister's support in integrating the NAF into national farming policies, particularly in mechanisation, modernised farming systems, and access to improved seedlings and fertilisers.
Kyari commended NAF’s efforts in the fight against insurgency in Borno State, extending the nation’s collective appreciation for its efforts.
He assured the delegation that the Ministry would integrate NAF Farms Limited into its existing agricultural frameworks, while also highlighting several programmes for collaboration, including support for dry-season farming and strategic reserve initiatives.
