The 2nd National School Volleyball Championships would unexpectedly get under way at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Monday, with schools from across the country competing over four days for places at the ISF World School Volleyball Championship in China in July.
The tournament, organised by the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) in collaboration with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) and supported by the Lagos State Sports Commission, features teams from Lagos, Osun, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Ogun, Taraba, Bauchi and other states. NVBF technical officials are on ground to scout talent throughout the competition, scheduled for 1–10 July.

Standout performers will be shortlisted to represent Nigeria in China — the same pathway that produced the national school representatives who competed at the 2025 ISF World School Volleyball Championship after the maiden edition in Abuja, where FCT, Plateau and Kaduna produced the country's picks.
NSSF President Olabisi Joseph said the championship reflected the federation's drive to develop volleyball within the school system and build well-rounded young athletes.
"Volleyball has ignited healthy rivalry among students. Sports stimulates learning, so we are building a total child through events like this," she said.
