Nigeria's push to strengthen the Super Eagles attack has taken a fresh turn, with the Nigeria Football Federation reportedly stepping up efforts to convince William Osula to switch his international allegiance from Denmark.
The 22-year-old forward, currently with Newcastle United following his move from Sheffield United, has enjoyed a surge in form despite limited opportunities earlier in the season.
His growing influence was underlined by a decisive goal against Manchester United, a performance that further raised his profile in the Premier League.

Beyond his exploits on the pitch, Osula has also endeared himself to Nigerian fans, notably through a viral moment in which he prepared Ogbono soup while joking about opponents — an episode that showcased his cultural ties to the country.

Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, Osula remains eligible to represent multiple nations. Although he has featured for Denmark at youth level and recently received a senior call-up, he is yet to earn a competitive cap.
Reports indicate that the NFF has initiated contact to persuade him to commit to Nigeria. With attacking options such as Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare and Paul Onuachu already in the squad, Osula's blend of pace, strength and long-term promise could offer something different to the frontline.
There is also growing belief that he could eventually develop into a long-term successor to Victor Osimhen as the focal point of Nigeria's attack.
With Denmark yet to cap him competitively and having missed out on World Cup qualification, the door remains open. Whether Nigeria can secure his commitment may yet become one of the most closely watched eligibility battles in African football.
