The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has formally recognised the recent electoral process of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), affirming its compliance with international governance standards.
In an official correspondence dated February 27, 2026, from Lausanne, Switzerland, the FIVB Legal Department confirmed that the election which produced the current NVBF President met the requirements outlined in Article 1.6 of the FIVB General Regulations.
The global body stated that the electoral process satisfied all legal and administrative criteria and is duly recognised at the international level.
This confirmation reinforces the legitimacy, transparency, and institutional stability of the current NVBF leadership.
It also ensures Nigeria’s continued good standing within the international volleyball community and secures participation in FIVB-sanctioned continental and global competitions.
The NVBF reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance, expanding grassroots programmes, promoting inclusivity, and elevating Nigerian volleyball to greater continental and global relevance.
The federation expressed appreciation to stakeholders, athletes, coaches, technical officials, sponsors, and partners for their continued support.
In a related development, the President of FIVB, Fabio Azevedo, has expressed deep shock following reports that several young Iranian volleyball players have been killed amid the worsening security crisis in the Middle East.

In an emotional statement, Azevedo extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected and to members of the global volleyball community impacted by the unfolding situation.
He noted that tens of thousands of members of the volleyball family across the region are facing displacement and uncertainty due to the escalating conflict.
The FIVB has prioritised the safety of athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers currently based in or visiting the affected areas. To address the humanitarian dimension of the crisis, the organisation has established a dedicated task force to coordinate urgent support in collaboration with governments, NGOs, and relevant international bodies.
