The National Orientation Agency has commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for his leadership and commitment to advancing Nigeria’s national reorientation agenda.

Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, conveyed the commendation while felicitating the minister on his 60th birthday.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Director of NOA, Paul Odenyi, Issa-Onilu praised Idris for effectively communicating government policies, programmes and activities.

He described the minister as a focused and forward-looking leader whose contributions have strengthened the information and orientation sector, providing direction for agencies under the ministry to engage citizens and promote national consciousness.

Issa-Onilu also noted that Idris’ emphasis on national values, civic responsibility and patriotism has contributed to shaping public discourse, encouraging Nigerians to embrace a stronger sense of responsibility towards national development and stability.

“According to him, the minister’s leadership has brought renewed energy and purpose to the task of reconnecting citizens with the core ideals of unity, discipline, and collective responsibility, which remain essential for achieving sustainable national development.

“The DG further noted that the clarity, structure, and consistency introduced into government communication under the minister’s guidance have significantly improved public understanding of policies and programmes, thereby fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry.

“He also acknowledged the minister’s firm commitment to promoting truthful, timely, and responsible communication, stressing that such an approach has played a critical role in countering misinformation and strengthening public trust in government institutions.

“Issa-Onilu stated that the agency has continued to draw strength from the minister’s leadership, which has enhanced its operational focus and enabled it to deepen its grassroots sensitisation efforts across diverse communities in the country.

“He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the minister’s vision by intensifying advocacy programmes aimed at promoting discipline, integrity, and active citizenship, while also encouraging Nigerians to take ownership of national development efforts.”

He also prayed for the Minister's long life and greater fulfilment.
