The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has partnered Equity Health Group and other stakeholders to deploy 1,000 containerised clinics nationwide in a bid to bridge Nigeria’s widening healthcare access gap.
The initiative, which prioritises underserved communities, is expected to significantly expand access to quality healthcare services, particularly in Northern Nigeria where infrastructure deficits remain pronounced.

The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the NCA, Equity Health Group and strategic partners, Doktorconnect and United International HMO.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Friday, NCA Chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, said the partnership underscores the growing role of faith-based institutions in driving community development and improving social services.
He noted that the extensive grassroots network of the association would facilitate effective reach and implementation of the project across rural and hard-to-reach areas.
According to him, the intervention is designed to complement existing government and private healthcare delivery systems by bringing essential services closer to millions of Nigerians.
Hayab said each containerised clinic would provide basic medical consultations, maternal and child healthcare, vaccinations, diagnostic services and telemedicine-enabled care.

He added that the initiative would help address longstanding challenges in healthcare access, especially in communities with limited or non-functional health facilities.
On her part, the Chief Executive Officer of Equity Health Group, Dr. Princess Ibe, said the project reflects the organisation’s commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through innovation and collaboration.
She explained that the integration of physical infrastructure with digital health solutions and insurance coverage would promote a more inclusive and sustainable healthcare system.
Ibe noted that Northern Nigeria has been identified as a priority region due to its low doctor-to-patient ratio and significant healthcare infrastructure gaps.
She said the use of containerised clinics would enable rapid deployment in areas with difficult terrain and security challenges, while ensuring flexibility and scalability.
The promoters added that the phased rollout of the 1,000 clinics is expected to improve primary healthcare outcomes and create employment opportunities for medical personnel and support staff across the country.
