The Northern Youth Progressives Forum has strongly dismissed the recent defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties to the ADC in Jigawa State, describing the move as a gathering of politically rejected actors driven by personal ambition rather than public interest.

In a statement, the group asserted that the APC remains the undisputed dominant political force in Jigawa State and across the North, backed by deep grassroots support and a verifiable record of governance. It stressed that the defections do not represent any meaningful shift in public loyalty.

“These are individuals who were previously entrusted with party tickets and opportunities by the people but failed to deliver, performed below expectations, and have now resorted to seeking political relevance elsewhere,” the statement read.

The Forum further questioned the credibility and ideological coherence of the emerging ADC coalition, describing it as an alliance of convenience lacking vision, consistency, and public trust.

“We urge Nigerians, particularly the youth, to resist being misled by opportunistic political arrangements formed solely for personal ambition and ahead of the 2027 elections,” the group added.

Reaffirming its unwavering support for the APC, the Forum expressed confidence in the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Umar Namadi, FCA, noting that his administration’s performance and commitment to development will continue to attract genuine supporters and consolidate the party’s strength heading into 2027.
