The Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, Hajia Sa’adatu Dogonbauchi, has empowered youths and women in Kaduna South Local Government Area with start-up tools to boost small-scale businesses.

The empowerment programme, held under the auspices of the Saa Dogonbauchi Foundation, saw beneficiaries receive items including sewing and popcorn machines.

Dogonbauchi said the initiative was aimed at promoting self-reliance and reducing poverty among vulnerable groups in the community.

She noted that the programme was also in fulfillment of her earlier pledge to dedicate her one-year salary towards supporting members of her constituency.

The Commissioner attributed the inspiration for the initiative to the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Uba Sani.

She urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items provided, warning against selling them, as they were meant to serve as a foundation for sustainable livelihoods.

According to her, the foundation would also organize training programmes to equip participants with the necessary skills to manage and grow their businesses.

Dogonbauchi added that outstanding beneficiaries would be considered for further support with more advanced equipment.

She called on other stakeholders and political appointees to complement government efforts by initiating programmes that directly impact communities.

The commissioner also pledged to extend similar empowerment initiatives to other local government areas across Kaduna State in the near future.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our Correspondent, expressed appreciation to the NPC Commissioner for funding them worthy of life-long economic empowerment tools and promised to utilizing the tools judiciously.

One of the beneficiaries, Asmau Ibrahim who was empowered with a brand new popcorn making machine said, if all the appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would emulate Dogonbauchi, the Federal Government’s desire to eradicate poverty would become a reality in no distance feature.
