The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, has cautioned against the adulteration of petroleum products by dealers, warning

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, has cautioned against the adulteration of petroleum products by dealers, warning that such act can result in disasters.
He also said tampering with fuel pump meters to obtain money from customers under false pretences amounts to a crime, and urged marketers to desist from such activities, as they are illegal and punishable by law.
Dr Odumosu made the remarks at the Command headquarters in Wuse, Abuja, during a meeting with members of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria.
He warned that the dangers inherent in sharp practices in the downstream petroleum sector outweigh the benefits, and advised the Association to embark on enlightenment campaigns among its members to desist from such practices.
"We are dedicated to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as the lives and property of people. We are open to synergies that can provide the necessary protection for Nigerians and, in particular, the residents of the FCT. The Command is poised to work with you as far as the interest of the masses is your priority," Odumosu said.
The FCT Commandant assured the Association that NSCDC personnel are conducting 24-hour surveillance and patrols across the city, stating that whenever there are security concerns, the Command will not hesitate to step in.
Odumosu charged the association to prevail on its members to desist from hoarding Petroleum Products and to cease selling to roadside marketers, to avoid disasters associated with keeping the products in gallons at home.
He said collaboration with the Association, which interfaces with various people, would strengthen intelligence gathering, particularly when suspected troublemakers buy petroleum products in large quantities without any particular address or description.

"As lead agency in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, a robust relationship with an association like yours is imperative, your product is needed by all and sundry for the day- day running of the polity, your role cannot be overemphasised for institutional intelligence sharing. We are truly disposed to working with you," Odumosu said.
The leader of the delegation from the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owner Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), FCT Chapter, Mr Nicholas Kanwanya, said the association works around the clock to meet the energy needs of citizens, businesses, and institutions daily.
Kanwanya, who said the visit was to seek collaboration with the Corps, commended the FCT Command for its unwavering commitment to internal security in the Federal Capital Territory. He noted that the Corps' vigilance in the FCT is the bedrock upon which the economic activities of this city rest.
"We are here to strengthen the bridges of communication between the energy sector and our intelligence community, increase real - time institutional intelligence sharing, conflict resolution framework, collaborative measures, as well as seek support in enforcement", he said.
