The Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund Management Board (NSITFMB), Hon. Sola Olofin, has commended the appointment of Tunji Disu as Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a decisive and strategically sound move in the interest of national security.
In a statement released to journalists, Olofin emphasized that the President acted strictly within the framework of the law, which vests in him the constitutional authority to appoint the Inspector-General of Police, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
He noted that leadership within the police force should not be reduced to seniority alone, but must be anchored on proven competence, depth of experience, and the capacity to respond effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Importantly, Olofin stressed that the position of Inspector-General of Police must never be subjected to considerations of tribe, ethnicity, or region, but should be determined solely by qualification, professional experience, integrity, and demonstrated capacity for leadership.
“The office of the Inspector-General of Police is central to guaranteeing a safe, orderly, and secure nation. It demands vision, discipline, strategic thinking, and operational experience. AIG Tunji Disu has consistently demonstrated these qualities over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades,” Olofin stated.

According to him, the appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to professionalism and performance-driven leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.
