The Oba Otudeko Foundation, the social impact arm of Honeywell Group, has strengthened institutional capacity at Olabisi Onabanjo University by delivering a 2,400-square-metre ultramodern administrative complex at its main campus in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
The facility, which is now fully operational, houses key administrative units of the university and is expected to improve coordination, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the institution.
The project aims to address infrastructure challenges in Nigeria’s higher education system, where universities continue to grapple with rising student populations and limited administrative capacity. It is also designed to strengthen the systems that support governance, academic management, and student services.
Speaking on the development, the Foundation's spokesperson, Mrs Yewande Giwa, said the intervention reflects a long-term commitment to building resilient institutions that support national development.
“The Oba Otudeko Foundation recognises that true educational excellence depends on the strength of the systems and structures that support teaching, learning, and research,” she said. “This administrative building reflects our belief that a great university is powered not only by its academic output, but also by the quality of its governance, coordination, and student-facing services.”
She added that the project aligns with the Foundation’s focus on education and entrepreneurship, which aims to strengthen institutions and prepare future leaders.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Toyin Ashiru, described the project as a major milestone in the institution’s development.
“The Oba Otudeko Administrative Building stands as both a functional and symbolic milestone in our institutional journey,” he said. “It directly addresses one of our most pressing challenges — shortage of office space — while enhancing productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.”
He also commended Dr. Oba Otudeko for his longstanding support for education and institutional development in the country.
The new complex adds to a series of education-focused interventions linked to Dr Otudeko, including the Honeywell Auditorium at Lagos Business School, aimed at improving learning environments and leadership development across Africa.
Beyond infrastructure, Honeywell Group also runs initiatives such as the Honeywell Excellence Programme, which equips graduates with business and leadership skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial skills.
The Foundation says its broader goal remains the strengthening of institutions, expansion of opportunity, and empowerment of future generations through sustained investment in education and human capital development.
