Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting development initiatives at the local government level, emphasising that such collaboration is key to accelerating growth across the state.

He made this known during the inauguration of projects executed by the Ethiope East Local Government Council, noting that grassroots development remains a central pillar of his administration’s agenda.

Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the governor explained that partnerships between the state and local governments ensure that development reaches communities more quickly and effectively.

According to him, empowering local councils to execute projects brings governance closer to the people and enables more responsive and impactful service delivery.

The commissioned projects included a renovated and fully furnished administrative block, a newly constructed ultra-modern staff building, and a generator house, all aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Oborevwori described these projects as practical investments that will enhance working conditions for staff and boost productivity within the council system.

In addition to infrastructure, the event also featured the distribution of empowerment items to youths, women, and vulnerable groups within the local government area.

The governor commended the inclusiveness of the initiative, particularly the consideration given to persons with disabilities, noting that development must be people-centered and leave no one behind.

He encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the items provided, stressing that they are tools for economic advancement and self-reliance.

Oborevwori further highlighted that such grassroots initiatives align with his administration’s broader MORE Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure, healthcare, empowerment, and security.

He praised the leadership of the Ethiope East Local Government Council for aligning with the state’s vision and demonstrating proactive governance at the grassroots level.

Earlier, the council chairman, Hon. Augustine Ogedegbe, expressed appreciation to the state government for its support.

He stated that the council remains committed to good governance, improved productivity, and sustained development for its people.
