A House of Representatives aspirant for Akoko Edo Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Paul Afagase Johnson, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on his emergence as Best Governor of the Year (Education) by New Telegraph Newspaper.

He described the honour as a clear testament to visionary leadership and decisive governance.

In a statement issued on behalf of himself and the people of Akoko Edo Local Government Area, Johnson said the award did not come as a surprise to many Edo citizens who have witnessed what he termed “a deliberate and strategic transformation” across key sectors of the state within just over one year of the governor’s administration.

According to him, Governor Okpebholo has distinguished himself through bold reforms, particularly in the education sector, where he has prioritised the improvement of learning environments, empowerment of teachers, and restoration of confidence in public institutions.

Johnson noted that beyond education, the administration has also recorded significant strides in youth employment, infrastructure renewal, and economic revitalisation, describing the governor’s approach as people-centred and development-driven.

He said, “His Excellency has demonstrated uncommon commitment to governance. The strategic investments in education and other critical sectors are already yielding visible and impactful results across Edo State,” Johnson said.

He added that the recognition by New Telegraph Newspaper serves not only as an endorsement of the governor’s performance but also as motivation to sustain the momentum of reforms aimed at improving the welfare and prosperity of Edo people.

Johnson expressed confidence that the award would be one of many honours to come, as the administration continues to implement policies designed to strengthen institutions and secure long-term development for the state.

He wished the governor renewed strength and wisdom as he continues to lead Edo State toward greater heights.
