Elders of All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have praised the judiciary for stopping the party’s state congress.

The Federal High Court in Akure issued an ex parte order restraining APC and Independent National Electoral Commission from proceeding with Monday congress or validating last month’s controversial ward and council congresses.

The ruling by Justice Toyin Adegoke was in response to a suit filed by aggrieved members, who alleged exclusion and irregularities.

This decision follows tensions in Ondo APC, including violent disruptions during ward congresses, attacks on party members, and  divisions that prompted Ondo APC Elders Movement for Tinubu to reject the exercises, petition President Bola Tinubu, and warn of threats to party unity.

In a statement, Coordinator of the group, Agboola Kelly, praised the judiciary’s action as a safeguard for justice, fairness, and internal party democracy.

He added the court’s intervention helps preserve party stability, prevents escalation of intra-party conflicts, and aligns with efforts to maintain unity in support of Tinubu’s vision and APC’s broader objectives.

The elders said the court’s decision is a crucial step toward upholding due process and ensuring that party processes reflect genuine inclusivity and transparency.
