• His demands receiving attention, says governor’s aide
A job seeker, who identified himself as Blessing Oripenaye, yesterday stormed the entrance of Alagbaka Governor’s Office in Akure, demanding an audience with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for employment.
Oripenaye, who had been trending on social media for a few weeks, claimed he had sent letters and also made appeals to Governor Aiyedatiwa, seeking employment opportunity in the state workforce.
He said he decided to besiege the Governor’s Office after 14 days of unanswered requests for employment from Governor Aiyedatiwa, whom he described as his kinsman.
The university graduate said he had been tagging Governor Aiyedatiwa and other top aides and officials of the government to demand job, but had received no response.
“I have written letters for 14 days through social media, tagging the governor, deputy governor, chief press secretary and other key officials, respectfully requesting a job opportunity, but I got no response,” he said.

Oripenaye said his action was not a ‘protest’, but an appeal for assistance, adding that his decision to appear at the Governor’s Office with a banner was aimed at drawing attention to his request.
He said he chose to remain at the entrance of the office, hoping either the governor or his aides would take notice of his situation.
“If nobody informs the governor about me, I will make myself known. With just one phone call, the governor can change my future,” he added.
He said he would continue to be at the location daily, while awaiting a response.
Showing solidarity, a former student union leader and aspirant for the national president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Afeez, appealed to the state government to address youth unemployment by responding to the plight of Oripenaye.
Reacting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the demand of Oripenaye had already received attention.
“The governor has immediately taken up his request and asked him to submit his résumé with a view to offering him employment. So, his matter will be looked into. He has been assured,’’ he said.
