Osimhen targets Fenerbahçe derby for injury comeback

Galatasaray have received a massive boost in their push for the Süper Lig title as star striker Victor Osimhen moved to on-field rehabilitation following surgery on a fractured right forearm.
The Nigerian international, whose absence has coincided with a dip in form that saw the Lions’ lead at the top of the table shrink, began light running drills under medical supervision this week.
Osimhen sustained the injury during a high-stakes UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield last month and has been sidelined since undergoing corrective surgery performed by Dr. Yener İnce.

In a post shared via the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account ahead of their fixture against Göztepe, Galatasaray confirmed the positive progress of their talisman: “Victor Osimhen is doing running drills on the field with his physiotherapist, while Gabriel Sara has started training with the team. Abdülkerim Bardakcı, despite being suspended due to a yellow card, travelled to İzmir with the team.”
Incidentally, Osimhen’s stint in the treatment room means the Okan Buruk’s side has struggled with both offensive efficiency and tactical flexibility.
Since the injury, Galatasaray's lead has narrowed to a single point. Back-to-back defeats against Liverpool (which ended their UCL campaign) and Trabzonspor have highlighted a lack of "fear factor" in the final third.
The club’s medical department has set a target date of April 20 for Osimhen to resume full first-team training and would be expected to be available for selection for the Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, a match that many believe will decide the fate of the Süper Lig trophy.
