The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, has commended governors in the South-South for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) ward and state congresses across the region.

He said the efforts of the governors — Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Bassey Otu of Cross River, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo — contributed to the successful election of new ward executives and State Working Committees (SWCs) in the zone.

Otuaro also congratulated Solomon Arenyeka, Warman Ogoriba, Tony Okocha, Stephen Ntukekpo, Chris Etta, and Jarret Tenebe on their emergence as chairmen of the APC in Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Edo states respectively, alongside other members of the newly constituted SWCs.

He noted that the governors demonstrated strong leadership, while delegates displayed discipline and resilience in ensuring a transparent transition process that produced outcomes acceptable to party stakeholders.

Otuaro further praised the affirmation process adopted by the APC, describing the exercise as consensus-driven and in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

He attributed the successful conduct of the congresses to the democratic leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the commitment of the party’s national secretariat to internal democracy, inclusion, and unity.

According to him, the newly inaugurated ward and state working committees have strengthened the party’s structures in the South-South ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Otuaro expressed optimism that President Tinubu would continue to deliver dividends of democracy across the country through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the administration’s ongoing reforms would gain further momentum and produce broader national impact if the president secures re-election.
