The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has urged party members and supporters to remain calm as the Appeal Court is set to deliver its judgment on the party’s leadership crisis on Monday, March 9, 2026.

In a statement released on Sunday, the forum, chaired by Senator Bala Mohammed, appealed to party members nationwide to respect the judicial process as the court prepares to deliver its judgment on March 9.

In the statement, signed by Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, Director General of the PDP-GF, Mohammed noted that the judiciary plays a vital role in ensuring fairness, impartiality, and stability in Nigeria’s democratic governance.

“Whatever the outcome of the court’s ruling, the PDP reaffirms its respect for the judicial process and its commitment to peace,” the statement said.

According to the governors’ forum, the PDP has historically been a cornerstone of Nigeria’s democracy, contributing to the strengthening of institutions and governance structures that protect citizens’ rights.

The statement urged all members and supporters to demonstrate discipline and maturity in responding to the court’s judgment.

“The forum calls on party members and leaders to show maximum restraint and remain law-abiding before, during, and after the ruling,” it added.

The statement also highlighted that party leadership will meet immediately after the judgment to review its implications and chart the necessary post-verdict course of action.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the forum reassured PDP members with political ambitions that the party remains committed to providing a credible platform to contest and win elections.

Despite the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) published timetable for the elections, the PDP expressed its readiness to protect the political aspirations of its members.

The statement further stressed that democracy thrives on the diversity of voices, the competition of ideas, and the ability of citizens to freely choose from credible alternatives.

The PDP pledged to continue upholding these values while providing Nigerians with a people-centered political alternative.

The PDP Governors’ Forum reiterated its respect for the judiciary as the only impartial arm of government capable of ensuring the stability of democratic governance.

The party assured Nigerians that it is fully prepared to participate in the democratic process, ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and respected, regardless of the court’s ruling.
