The Coalition of Civil Society for Economic Protection has stressed that the conversation around pipeline surveillance in the country must be guided by results.
Its National Convener, Ambassador Tesleem Kolawole Adepoju, said when national assets are properly secured, the economy benefits, communities stabilize, and young people gain real opportunities.
Leading the coalition on a solidarity rally to the National Assembly on Wednesday, he said in this regard, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has become a visible part of a broader national effort that has helped restore confidence in pipeline security and crude oil production.
Adepoju pointed out that, according to relevant authorities, Nigeria’s oil production rose to 1.8 million barrels per day in November 2024.

"It is also important to remember the context from which these gains emerged. It was reported that crude production had fallen as low as 500,000 barrels per day before Tantita’s engagement in 2022, due to vandalism and criminal activity.
"Whether one looks at the security challenge or the recovery, the point is the same: securing pipelines matters, because insecurity around oil assets damages national revenue, the environment, and livelihoods," he said.
Adepoju said this was not the time to weaken a framework that has helped restore production, support youth enterprise, improve education, and create alternatives to criminality.
"This is the time to strengthen accountability, improve coordination, and protect what is working. When a programme produces measurable gains in oil security, education, skills, agriculture, and youth engagement, the responsible thing is not disruption; it is consolidation.
"Therefore, we call for continuity, transparency, and support for every initiative that secures national assets while also lifting people. Tantita’s record, as publicly reported, shows that security and development can work together. That is the standard we should protect for Nigeria’s future," he said.
Adepoju highlighted the various positive impacts of the company on society.

He said, "Tantita’s footprint is not abstract on youth empowerment and community development. Tantita has empowered over 45,000 youths across the Niger Delta in various aspects of human development.
"In March 2026, the company’s managing director empowered 80 young entrepreneurs with an N800 million grant as direct capital for real enterprise, an initiative to help them establish and grow businesses across the Niger Delta.
"In January 2026, 100 youths completed a six-month ICT programme spanning computer applications, web development, graphics design, cybersecurity, and data analysis supported by Tantita and partners, with participants receiving laptops at graduation. This matters because empowerment is strongest when it creates employable skills, not just short-term relief.
"In education, Tantita’s support has been concrete and measurable. At the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, the company donated HP laptops, HP all-in-one desktops, office tables, and visitor chairs. The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, it donated a 45 KVA inverter, 98 solar panels, a 29-seater bus, and 40 brand-new HP desktop computers. These are not headline gestures alone; they are assets that improve learning, mobility, electricity reliability, and institutional capacity.
"Tantita has also used education and public competition as a tool for youth confidence-building. In its public speaking competition in Warri, the first-place winner received N1 million, the second N800,000, the third N700,000, and every participating school received N100,000, alongside school bags for participants. That is a practical investment in talent, confidence, and educational motivation.

"Beyond cash and donations, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has made visible contributions to community infrastructure. In Effurun, Delta State, the company funded and coordinated the repair of strategic roads in Bendel Estate and adjoining communities, relieving residents of poor travel conditions and supporting broader state development efforts.
"These efforts show the company’s willingness to contribute positively to the lives of ordinary Nigerians where it operates. Its sustainable rice farming initiative, launched with SDN and Ecosus Pro Nigeria Limited, is designed to move communities away from illegal oil-related activity into structured agriculture.
"This initiative builds on a 2017 pilot in Peremabiri, where 20 former bunkerers moved into rice farming and achieved yields five times the national average. The plan also includes scaling from 25 hectares to more than 100,000 hectares, with an initial three-year investment of N2.53 billion and a further N1.15 billion from year four."
