Imo State Commissioner of Police, Garba Bosso has assured candidates, examination officials, and the parents of adequate security arrangements across all accredited examination centres in the state.

He said measures were taken to ensure a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled from 16th to 25th April 2026.

‎Bosso gave the assurance during a strategic security meeting held at the Command Headquarters on Friday.

He directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to immediately identify all JAMB offices and accredited examination centres within their areas of responsibility and ensure the deployment of adequate personnel and operational assets for effective security coverage before, during, and after the examination period.

He further directed the intensification of visibility policing across the State, including sustained patrols and surveillance around examination centers, to deter criminal elements and ensure swift response to any security threats.

The police boss warned that any officer found wanting in the discharge of assigned duties would face appropriate disciplinary action.

In addition, he disclosed that personnel of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been strategically deployed to provide intelligence support and strengthen operational readiness across all examination locations.

While wishing all candidates success in their examinations, the CP further warned against involvement in examination malpractice or any form of disorderly conduct, stressing that "offenders will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws."

He reiterated the command's commitment to sustaining the improved peace and security across the state and called on the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies throughout the examination period.
