The Delta State Police Command has kicked off activities for the 2026 National Police Week with a statewide clean-up exercise and medical outreach aimed at strengthening community relations and promoting public health.

The initiative, which began on Monday, March 30, was carried out simultaneously across the command’s nine area commands.

Police officers cleaned public spaces, drainages, and surrounding environments, demonstrating their commitment to sanitation and community engagement.

At the same time, free medical services were provided at designated locations, including the Police Headquarters, Asaba, offering health checks, consultations, and essential medications to residents.

Leading the exercise at Anioma Market, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi John Oyeniyi, said the activities aligned with the theme of this year’s celebration, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

He emphasised that modern policing goes beyond law enforcement to include community service and collaboration.

Residents were also encouraged to maintain cleanliness in their environments, as the command reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that enhance public health, safety, and trust between the police and the community.
