Registration remains open for the 11th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, scheduled for May 23, 2026, in Edo State. Race Director Zack Amodu confirmed yesterday  that the portal has seen a surge in entries since opening in early March.

The organizers have provided two primary channels for local and international participants to secure their spots. While  runners can register directly via the official portal at www.okpekperoadrace.com, forms are available for pickup at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Amodu emphasized that all participants—including professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and charity runners—must adhere to World Athletics regulations.

"The official entry form must be completed in full," Amodu stated. "Submission of the form constitutes a binding acceptance of the terms and conditions governing this historic event."

The Okpekpe Road Race holds the distinction of being the first event in West Africa to receive World Athletics Gold Label status. After a cancellation in 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances, organizers are positioning the 2026 edition as a "stronger and more glamorous" comeback for the regional athletics circuit
