The Governing Council of University of Lagos has approved promotions, appointments, confirmations, upgrades and redesignation of staff in academic and non-teaching cadres to strengthen manpower and enhance academic excellence.

Among those elevated is Dr. Felix Awosika, to professor of Political Science.

His elevation was part of the 52 academic staff approved for professorial rank at the council’s meeting in March.

Awosika brings over 28 years of teaching, research and administrative experience to his new role.

He began as assistant lecturer and rose through consistent scholarly output, commitment to teaching and participation in institutional development.

Awosika holds a PhD in Public Administration, a Master of Science in International Relations, a Master’s degree in Research and Public Policy, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.

His academic exposure includes international engagements as a Research Scholar at University of Cape Coast and Visiting Scholar on sabbatical at California State University, Fresno in United States.

He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses spanning public administration, human resource management, intergovernmental relations and administrative theory.

His research interests cut across public sector governance and reforms, public policy, local government studies, administrative ethics, development studies and environmental governance.

Awosika has publications in reputable local and international journals, including articles, conference papers and book chapters that have contributed to discourse in governance and public administration.

Within the university system, he has held administrative responsibilities, contributing to policy formulation and academic planning, while mentoring younger academics and postgraduate students.

Beyond the classroom, he is active in community and professional service, offering consultancy and policy advisory support, as well as participating in national and international academic conferences.

Colleagues describe him as a dedicated scholar with strong integrity, intellectual depth and a passion for excellence, attributes which have shaped his contributions to institutional growth and development.

The promotions are seen as part of efforts to reward merit, boost morale and sustain its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions.
