Popular musician and band leader, Segun Johnson has once again cemented his place as one of Nigeria’s most compelling live performers, emerging winner of the APPOEMN Best Entertainer (Live Band Category) for 2025.

With this latest win, Johnson completes a rare back-to-back-to-back victory, having previously clinched the same award in 2023 and 2024.

The award, presented by the Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN), recognizes excellence and consistency in live entertainment within Nigeria’s vibrant events industry.

Johnson’s three-year streak underscores not just popularity, but sustained relevance and performance excellence in an increasingly competitive space.

Speaking on the win, Johnson attributed his continued success to a deliberate focus on audience engagement beyond conventional live band performances.

“I believe the extra quality of audience engagement through my hype lines and original songs—those that are owned and known as part of the Segun Johnson brand—sets me apart,” he said.

“While versatility is common among live bands, intentional engagement is what creates unforgettable moments.”

Johnson explained that winning the Live Band Entertainer of the Year award three years in a row has reaffirmed his creative direction and performance philosophy.

“Winning this award consecutively makes me understand that I’m on the right path when it comes to entertainment and live performances in the Nigerian event space,” he noted. “There is a lot of intentionality behind my songs and hype lines, and seeing how they consistently connect with audiences tells me the work is resonating.”

The gifted musician is widely celebrated for crowd-favourite songs such as “Presido Presido” and “Sho Fine Gan,” among others.

Over the years, Johnson has become known for blending live music with high-energy audience interaction, creating immersive performances that go beyond sound to deliver full-scale experiences.

His growing reputation among event planners, party organizers, and audiences alike has made him a sought-after act across weddings, corporate events, and high-profile celebrations.
