Senator Ishaku Abbo, who represented Adamawa North in the National Assembly between 2019 and 2023, has joined the Labour Party (LP).
Abbo, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) since last year, announced about two weeks ago that he had decided to leave the ADC.
The erstwhile lawmaker cited ongoing leadership crises within the party among his reasons for exiting the platform.
After announcing last week that he had decided on another party, Abbo followed this up yesterday with the revelation that Labour Party is his new political association.

In a statement, the former lawmaker announced that he had chosen to join the LP with his supporters to pursue his political aspirations, particularly his bid for the Adamawa State governorship in next year’s general election.
“I, Senator shaku Abbo, the national leader of the SIA Movement — a deeply rooted grassroots movement — have today joined the Labour Party alongside my supporters so we can contest elections in 2027,” Abbo stated.
He expressed regards for his former colleagues in the ADC, saying: “I ask all the people who are not happy with my movement to forgive me as I have deep respect for all my friends in ADC. I am leaving ADC, not out of hate for the party but to pursue our political aspirations because I carry the dreams of many people.”
