Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has backed Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial district, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, for governor of Nasarawa State in 2027.
The Vice President stated this yesterday in Lafia while speaking at the 3rd Biennial Nasarawa Investment Summit organised by the Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency, NASIDA.
Shettima, who hailed the governor, Abdullahi Sule, for attracting investment and infrastructural development in the state, expressed confidence that the incumbent will be succeeded by another technocrat, Wadata.
Sule had on April 16, 2026, announced Senator Wadada as his preferred choice for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the primaries of the ruling APC scheduled for May 21, 2026.
The vice president commends Sule, saying: “Over the past seven years, Nasarawa has pursued development with a calm conviction of a state that knows where it’s going.

“A government such as this is a meeting point of ideas and capital, it’s why investors, policy makers, entrepreneurs, financials, technocrats, and development partners compare notes and discover areas of mutual interests, it’s why the imagination of government meets the courage of private enterprises.
“I have no doubt that Nasarawa is an answer to every investment dilemma; it has land, it has minerals, it has proximity, it has agriculture, it has energy prospects, and most importantly, it has a government that understands the consequences of energy,” he said
“I want to assure the investing public that by the grace of God, one seated here in our midst is the next Governor of Nasarawa State.
“He will abide by the contract, and I’m certain. He cut his teeth in the banking industry.
Earlier, Sule said the 2026 investment summit is not a continuation of investment promotion, but a strategic platform to consolidate on the existing gains.
