APRIL FOOL OR APRIL DREAM?

  • By Niyi Osundara

I woke up today

To a magical astonishment

My room was strangely bright

My laughter loud like a waterfall

My refrigerator was humming

My television sprang into sound

My long-dead computer was ablaze

Its screen glowing like a happy sky

My juiceless phone was all astir

As it rang like a crazy bell

My neighbour was on the line

To share the joy of the magic day

Our world suddenly came alive

HURRAY TO NEPA, our Nation's tenacious leper!

A plague on mindless rulers whose greed

Has wrecked our national grid…..

To wake up on April Fool's Day

To nightmares so full of possible dreams
