The Southwest APC Mandate Group has thrown its weight behind Prince Kola Asatola Asanike, a royal prince and seasoned administrator, for the party’s upcoming primaries to elect its candidate for the Oyo 2027 governorship election.

In a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday, the group’s publicity secretary, Comrade Olugbenga Bojuwomi, said that, having examined the pedigree of Prince Asanike, the group believes he is capable of securing the party’s ticket, noting that he has paid his dues as a committed party faithful.

The group also indicated that party leaders in Oyo State, as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have been contacted to highlight Asanike’s credentials and the need for their support.

It added that Asanike has remained steadfast and fully committed to the principles and ideals of the Progressives right from his days as a youth leader in NADECO.

Bojuwomi stated, “Prince Asanike is a man of integrity, humility, and vision.” He stressed: “His royal heritage, global exposure, and distinguished career include contributions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in tracking economic regulatory violators.

"In addition, Asanike has been a key player in democratic advocacy in the country since his youth.

"All these make him an ideal candidate to lead Oyo State.”

The group also cited Asanike’s track record of integrity, pointing to his role at the same SEC, where “billions of transactions passed under his watch without a single trace of fraud.”

According to the group, Asanike’s vision for Oyo State includes grassroots governance, which will mobilise citizen engagement across the 33 local government areas of the state.

“He is not just another aspirant; he is a mandate for transformation. His ideals resonate with ordinary people: humility, integrity, and a down-to-earth approach,” Bojuwomi emphasised.

The group praised Asanike’s commitment to President Tinubu’s presidential ambition, citing his role in a delegation that met former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba in Abeokuta.

It also cited other notable instances where Asanike, alongside other patriots, visited prominent Yoruba leaders across the Southwest, urging them to support Tinubu’s presidency. One such visit, the group noted, was to the late Chief Olabiyi Durojaye, among others.

“Prince Asanike represents the future of Oyo State, a future built on integrity, grassroots governance, and the empowerment of the common people,” the group added.

The Southwest APC Mandate Group urged stakeholders to rally behind Asanike.

It said: “The taste of the pudding is in the eating. The man whose integrity meets innovation is here and ready to transform Oyo from decay to renewal.”
