Sound architect Strei has returned with a new single entitled “Anxiety."

The deeply introspective release marks a defining moment in Strei's artistic evolution. Emerging as a distinct voice within Afrobeats through his self-defined Afromood sound, Strei leans fully into emotional transparency on this record, offering a piece that is as exposed as it is intentional. Rather than channeling emotion through layered rhythms and melodic ease, “Anxiety” places the feeling itself at the center: direct, unresolved, and unfiltered.

“This song is exactly what the title suggests,” Strei explains. “It came from a place of expressing raw, unfiltered emotions, both positive and negative. I deal with anxiety personally, so this was me being open about that experience and putting those feelings into the music.”

Built on the foundation of his Afromood sound, the single presents one of the clearest expressions of his artistic identity to date. The production is restrained yet immersive, allowing space for vulnerability to sit at the forefront. Rather than chasing sonic complexity, the record prioritizes emotional clarity, creating a listening experience that feels direct and personal. It is a sound defined less by genre conventions and more by its ability to translate internal states into music.

“I’d describe the sound as Afromood,” he adds. “It’s expressive, vulnerable, and emotional. This song reflects everything I aim to put into my music and defines the core of my sound.”

The inspiration behind “Anxiety” is rooted in lived experience. Drawing from his own encounters with anxiety, Strei approaches the subject without resolution or pretense. The song does not attempt to offer answers; instead, it documents the feeling in its rawest form. Both the tension and the quiet moments within it are captured, reflecting the duality of the experience itself.

In many ways, “Anxiety” builds directly on the foundation laid by his previous project, ITAM (Introduction to Afromood).

Where that body of work introduced the framework of his sound, this single is more refined and focused.

“This record is a more refined, focused, and cleaner version of what I introduced before,” Strei notes. “It’s one of the most fully realised expressions of Afromood so far.”

The creation process reflects that same sense of immediacy. Developed at KTIZO Studios in collaboration with producers Treasure and Big Space, the track was built from the ground up in a single day. From production to vocal recording, the core of the song came together organically, driven by instinct rather than structure.

“My process is very organic,” he says. “We built the beat from scratch. I freestyled melodies and then developed the strongest ideas. For this song, I already had the theme in mind, so certain words naturally came through and evolved into the full story.”

Live guitar elements performed by Big Space add a subtle but effective layer, reinforcing the track’s emotional weight without overwhelming it. What followed was a period of refinement, ensuring the final record remained true to its original feeling while achieving technical precision.

At its core, “Anxiety” is not positioned as a solution, but as an expression. It speaks to listeners who recognize the experience within themselves, offering connection rather than commentary.

“This isn’t about solving anxiety,” Strei concludes. “It’s about expressing it honestly and creating something that people who feel the same way can connect with.”

As his catalogue continues to grow, Strei remains focused on developing a sound that prioritizes emotional truth. “Anxiety” does not attempt to broaden his identity; it sharpens it. In doing so, it reinforces his position as an artist committed to exploring the internal landscape with clarity and intent.
