Nottingham Forest took a massive step toward Premier League survival, dismantling a Tottenham Hotspur side 3-0  yesterday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Super-sub Taiwo Awoniyi provided the final blow in a result that sees Forest leapfrog their rivals to move three points clear of the relegation zone.

The victory, the first for new manager Vítor Pereira, leaves Tottenham just one point above the bottom three and winless in the Premier League in 2026.

While Forest held a two-goal lead through earlier strikes from Igor Jesus (45') and Morgan Gibbs-White (62'), the introduction of Awoniyi in the 71st  minute ensured there would be no late comeback.

In the 87th  minute, Neco Williams delivered a precise cross to the back post, where the Nigerian international ghosted past defender Kevin Danso to slot home a clinical first-time volley. It was only Awoniyi’s second goal of a season hampered by limited minutes, but its timing could define Forest’s campaign.

Awoniyi’s late heroics were matched by a disciplined defensive shift from compatriot Ola Aina. The versatile full-back played the full 90 minutes, neutralizing Spurs’ early pressure and securing a vital clean sheet for the visitors.

With seven matches remaining, the bottom of the table has been blown wide open. Forest’s clinical efficiency—scoring three times from just a handful of clear chances—contrasted sharply with a Spurs side that has now lost six of their last seven league outings.

For Forest, the momentum shifts toward a favourable run-in. For Spurs and interim manager Igor Tudor, the pressure is at a breaking point as they face the genuine prospect of a first-ever relegation from the Premier League.
