Chairman, United Kingdom chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tunde Doherty, has congratulated the Acting Inspector-General of Police(IGP), Olatunji Disu, on his elevation, describing it as well-deserved.

He urged the I-G to strengthen institutional reforms, improve community policing, enhance professionalism, and restore public trust.

Doherty also emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between security agencies and communities.

He described the appointment as both strategic and timely, noting that IG Disu’s distinguished career, professional competence, and proven leadership capacity make him eminently qualified for the role.

The chapter chairman, who is also the chairman of Committee of Diaspora Chairmen APC-CDC, commended the Federal Government for entrusting the leadership of the Police to a seasoned officer with a strong track record of operational effectiveness and administrative excellence.

He said: “IG Tunji Disu has consistently demonstrated discipline, courage, and a commitment to service throughout his career.

“His experience across various commands and critical assignments has equipped him with the insight and expertise necessary to lead the Force at this pivotal time.

“He is a round peg in a round hole, and I am confident that his tenure will focus on strengthening institutional reforms, improving community policing, enhancing professionalism within the Force, and restoring public trust.”

Doherty stressed that effective policing remains central to national stability, economic growth, and the overall well-being of citizens.

“The APC UK Chapter joins millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora in wishing IG Olatunji Rilwan Disu a successful and impactful tenure.

“The Chapter remains hopeful that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force will continue to evolve into a more responsive, accountable, and people-centred institution,” he stated.
