Team Nigeria has arrived in Accra, Ghana, for an international friendly boxing tournament against the host nation’s Black Bombers and Hitters as part of preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The delegation landed yesterday and will step into action today, at the Accra Sports Stadium in what serves as a crucial tune-up ahead of the Games scheduled for July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Nigeria’s squad features a balanced mix of male and female boxers, supported by a full technical and administrative crew.
The male fighters include Ogunremi Michael (55kg), Sodiq Oduniyi (60kg), Abdulrahmon Abdulwahaab (65kg), Folly Hassan (70kg), and Daniel Joshua (80kg), while the female team is made up of Aishat Gbadamosi (57kg), Kadijat Ajisola (54kg), and Orakwe Blessing (75kg).
The officials accompanying the team are Coach Tonye Ageba, Technical Chairman Laguda Babatunde, team doctor Lazarus Hirekaan, Secretary General Vivian Akohwarien and Vice President Omolie Yakubu Imadu.
The friendly competition is expected to provide valuable exposure and sharpen the readiness of the Nigerian boxers as they intensify preparations for the multi-sport event in Scotland.
