Chairman of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Technical Committee, Babatunde Laguda, described the friendly as an important step in evaluating the athletes.
“The Ghana friendly is the right move at this stage. Our boxers are in camp in Lagos, and this competition will expose them to a higher level of challenge,” he said.
NBF Vice President, Hon. Omonlei Imadu, also revealed plans for additional international friendlies as part of preparations.
“We are in advanced discussions with two other countries for more friendly bouts. Our goal is to ensure the boxers are fully prepared before the Commonwealth Games begin in July,” he stated.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland.
