President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, and Rivers states, describing the outcome as a further consolidation of Nigeria’s democratic culture.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in the six area councils of the FCT and by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies of Rivers State, as well as in Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the victorious candidates to approach their mandates with humility, patriotism, and dedication.
He advised them to regard the trust reposed in them by the electorate as sacred and to prioritise service to the people above all else.
President Tinubu also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the developmental strides had yielded political dividends for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President extended congratulations to the national leadership of the APC, as well as its Kano and Rivers State chapters, for the victories recorded at the polls.
He lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections, stressing that credible polls remain the bedrock of sustainable democracy.

According to him, the courage, discipline, and sportsmanship displayed by all contestants underscored the vibrancy of Nigeria’s democratic space.
“Democracy is enriched by participation and healthy competition,” the President was quoted as saying, adding that the successful conduct of the elections further strengthens democratic institutions and public confidence in the electoral process.
President Tinubu also called on INEC to sustain and improve upon its efforts in delivering even more exemplary electoral processes in future contests.
Saturday’s polls in the FCT area councils and the affected constituencies in Kano and Rivers were widely monitored, with observers noting the generally calm atmosphere across voting centres.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening democratic governance and fostering unity across party lines for national development.
