A political support group in Ekiti State, BAO Grassroots Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the recent state visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the United Kingdom as a timely intervention capable of strengthening Nigeria’s economy and global standing.

The group said the visit reflected Nigeria’s growing importance on the global stage under Tinubu leadership, noting that the engagement signalled renewed confidence by the UK government in Nigeria as a strategic partner in Africa’s political and economic future.

In a statement issued yesterday by its State Coordinator, Prince Tunji Ogunlola, and Director of Publicity, Mr Odunayo Ogunmola, the group said the visit provided an opportunity for Nigeria to attract foreign investments and deepen bilateral relations.

It added that the move would enable the President to showcase Nigeria’s vast investment potential and large consumer market to British investors.

The body described the visit as historic, noting that it marked the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years.

It expressed optimism that the Memoranda of Understanding expected to be signed would enhance cooperation in trade, defence, culture and other key sectors.

The group lauded the £746 million financing deal between the UK Export Finance and the Nigerian Ports Authority for rehabilitation of key maritime infrastructure, including the Lagos Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port Complex, saying the development would have far-reaching economic benefits.

It added that the growing interest of the United Kingdom in expanding trade relations with Nigeria underscored global confidence in the ongoing economic reforms of the Tinubu administration.

The group also commended Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for approving the rehabilitation of seven major township roads in Ado Ekiti, describing the move as a significant step towards infrastructural development.

It listed the roads to include New Iyin-NTA Road, Onigari-Spotless-Egbewa Road, Ijigbo-Baptist School Road, Okesa-Oke Oriomi-Irona Road, Okeyinmi-Fajuyi-Police Headquarters Road, Ecobank-Mobil-Ajilosun Road, and Ile Abiye-Bisi Egbeyemi Crescent-Government House Road.

The group noted that the N6.2 billion road projects would ease transportation challenges, improve connectivity, boost commerce and enhance the aesthetic outlook of the state capital.
