Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is proving his coach right after being tipped as Turkey’s top scorer even before the season began.

The towering forward currently leads the scoring chart in the Turkish Super Lig with 18 goals and two assists, in addition to netting twice in the Turkish Cup as Trabzonspor stormed into the quarter-finals.

Onuachu had already laid down a marker during his initial loan spell from Southampton FC, scoring 15 goals and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

“When Onuachu first arrived, I called him the top scorer,” Trabzonspor coach Fatih Tekke revealed.

“He has special talents, but I want him to improve further. If he reduces unnecessary ball losses, he will score even more goals. We are very happy to have him.”

Tekke also praised the striker’s dedication on the training ground, highlighting his discipline and commitment as key factors behind his prolific form.
