Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have intercepted ₦37 million suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and disrupted insurgents’ logistics network during coordinated operations in the region.

The military said the operations followed recent defensive successes in Pulka and Madara-Girau, with troops shifting focus to cutting off supply and funding channels sustaining terrorists’ activities.

In a statement on Monday, the military disclosed that troops of Sector 1, working with vigilante forces, ambushed insurgents along a known crossing route used by elements of the ISWAP moving from Cameroon into Nigeria.

The troops reportedly launched a night operation that forced the insurgents to retreat after coming under heavy fire. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of logistics materials believed to be meant for terrorist resupply.

Military authorities said the interception has weakened the insurgents’ operational capacity in the area, adding that troops have maintained control of the location while continuing clearance operations.

In a related operation, troops at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants. A search of the vehicle uncovered ₦37 million hidden in bags, alongside several mobile phones suspected to be used for coordinating and financing terrorist activities.

The military described the seizure as a major breakthrough in efforts to dismantle financial networks supporting terrorism in the North East.

It noted that the operations form part of a broader strategy to disrupt insurgents’ movement and funding sources, aimed at limiting their ability to regroup and launch attacks.

The military high command commended troops and collaborating security agencies for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
