Troops of the joint task force (northeast), operation hadin kai, have killed nine suspected terrorists in separate ambush operations in borno state.

Also, security forces in rivers state have arrested a suspected kidnapper during a coordinated raid.

It was gathered that four of the terror suspects were killed yesterday morning during an ambush by troops of the 21 special armoured brigade, working with vigilantes in the sambisa forest axis.

The troops acted on credible intelligence about insurgent movement near a suspected crossing point in the “Charlie Five” area, and engaged the terrorists  advancing from the yale axis with superior firepower.

Four of the criminals were killed, one ak-47 rifle with 12 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two bags of ground maize and a pack of spaghetti believed to be part of the terrorists’ logistics supplies, were recovered.

According to counter-terrorism expert, Zagazola Makama, the ambush team returned safely without casualties, while clearance continued in the area.

Relatedly, troops deployed at a Forward Operating Base (fob) in the mayanti area also neutralised five suspected terrorists during an ambush conducted under operation desert sanity on Wednesday.

Sources said the troops laid ambush at a strategic location based on intelligence before engaging the insurgents later in the evening. Two bicycles, fabric materials and food supplies used for logistics were recovered from the scene, while the troops redeployed to another tactical position to sustain pressure on fleeing fighters.

Military authorities said the security situation in the affected areas was  calm, with troops maintaining high morale as offensive operations continue across the north-east theatre to degrade terrorist networks and restore normalcy.

In rivers state, operatives of delta safe, working with the department of state services (dss), arrested a suspected kidnapper during a pre-dawn operation in eleporpordu and rukpoku communities of obio/akpor local government area.

The suspect was apprehended about 4:45am on wednesday by maritime special task force 2 alongside dss operatives.

He is in dss custody for further investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks in the state.
