The race for goals in the 2025/26 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership has exploded into life as the first stanza wraps up, with clinical forwards across both groups staking early claims for the coveted Golden Boot.
At the summit of the scorers’ chart is Abasiofon Uwah of Rivers Angels, whose seven-goal haul has powered her side’s attacking charge and placed her firmly in pole position heading into the second round.
Hot on her heels is Atume Doosuur of Edo Queens with six goals, underlining the former champions’ consistent firepower, while Uwah’s teammate Ramotallahi Kareem has added five goals to keep Rivers Angels well represented among the league’s most lethal finishers.
The chase remains tightly packed.
Winner Onajite (Abia Angels) and Tosin Rafiu (FC Robo Queens) have each struck five times, keeping the Golden Boot race delicately balanced as the league resumes for the decisive second stanza.
Rafiu’s form has been particularly crucial for FC Robo Queens, who currently command Group B and have blended attacking verve with tactical discipline to stay ahead of their rivals.

A cluster of hungry forwards sit just behind the leaders with four goals apiece: Oluwakemi Adegbuyi (FC Robo Queens);Janet Akekoromowei (Bayelsa Queens);Kindness Ifeanyi (Bayelsa Queens);Seember Emmanuel (Confluence Queens) and Ifeoma Damian (Adamawa Queens)
Their presence ensures that a single prolific matchday could dramatically reshape the standings.
As it stands, Bayelsa Queens lead Group A, thanks largely to their balanced squad and shared scoring responsibilities, while FC Robo Queens have taken firm control of Group B, buoyed by Rafiu and Adegbuyi’s attacking sharpness.
With qualification spots and playoff ambitions at stake, the second stanza promises more intensity, tactical battles, and, most importantly, goals. The Golden Boot race remains finely poised, with just two goals separating the top seven scorers.
