We didn’t collect money to endorse Hamzat, says group
The Tinubu AMBO Support Group has denied claims that it received ₦100 million to endorse Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship

The Tinubu AMBO Support Group has denied claims that it received ₦100 million to endorse Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The group, in a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, Wale Balogun, described the allegation as false and unfounded, insisting that its endorsement was not financially induced.
It said, “Our attention has been drawn to a rumour alleging that Dr. Seyi Bamgbade, Director-General of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, collected the sum of ₦100 million through Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to declare support for Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.
“We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that this allegation is false, baseless and entirely unfounded. At no time did Dr. Seyi Bamgbade receive any money from Hon. Faleke or from Dr. Hamzat in exchange for political support.”
The group noted that Bamgbade had consistently demonstrated loyalty within the progressive fold, recalling his role as a grassroots mobiliser and his support for former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, during the 2015 election and the build-up to his second-term bid.
It added that Ambode had congratulated Hamzat on his emergence as the APC consensus candidate, describing the development as a reflection of unity within the party.
The statement further reaffirmed Bamgbade’s commitment to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as ongoing mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Once the party takes a decision, alignment becomes imperative in the collective interest of unity, stability and progress,” it stated.
The group urged the public and party faithful to disregard the rumour, describing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead and create division.
“We remain focused, disciplined and committed to the progressive ideals of our great party as we work towards victory in all forthcoming elections,” It added.
