First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday called for intensified prevention efforts and expanded access to life-saving interventions as the world marked World Malaria Day 2026.

In her message to commemorate the day, the First Lady urged stakeholders to strengthen preventive measures, support proven interventions, and ensure that all communities, particularly the most vulnerable, have access to the tools required to prevent and treat malaria.
“Let us strengthen prevention efforts, support life-saving interventions, and ensure that every community, especially the most vulnerable, has access to the materials needed to prevent and treat malaria,” she said.
The First Lady reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to ending malaria, noting that the 2026 theme, “United Against Malaria,” underscores the urgency of sustained collaboration and increased domestic investment in the health sector.
She highlighted the importance of innovative solutions to address emerging challenges such as drug resistance and unequal access to healthcare, which continue to hinder global progress in malaria control.
According to her, a coordinated approach involving government, the private sector, and development partners remains critical to achieving lasting success in the fight against the disease.
“When we stand united, we can achieve a malaria-free world,” she added.
