Over 100 young junior smashers will invade the Tennis courts of the Ikoyi Club n1938 as the annual Easter Holiday Junior Tennis Clinic/Tournament starts today.

The age group developmental initiative sponsored by Leadway Assurance Company is the 8th edition in the series and this year’s event is expected to be full of fun for the kids and club members all in the spirit of the season.

In an attempt to teach them the basics of the game and to ‘catch them young,’ some quality coaches have been lined up by the tennis section of the elite club to put the young ones through.

The Boys and Girls categories will witness clinic and competition in four categories which are the 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14 to 16 respectively.

Already, the elite club has been working round the clock to ensure the young smashers enjoy the 2026 edition of the tournament.

Games Captain, Segun Olajide, and Tennis section Chairman, Victor Onyekpa, have worked round the clock to put this event together not only for the young ones but for the teeming club members who are expected to sit back and watch as the greater tomorrows display their skills.

Chairman, Onyekpa, said: “We are excited to welcome the children to the Easter clinic. We’ve made every preparation to ensure that the event goes smoothly. And I hope the children will have lots of fun while learning or improving their game of tennis.”

Head of admin, Ikoyi Club Tennis section, Gbenga Adetona, confirmed that the clinic will take place between April 7 and 10 at the Tennis courts of the elite club while the Tournament is billed for Saturday April 11th at the same venue.
