Youths in Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency of Ondo State have obtained nomination form for a member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Adesida, ahead of the next

Youths in Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency of Ondo State have obtained nomination form for a member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Adesida, ahead of the next general election.
The youth said the initiative was aimed at encouraging the lawmaker to seek re-election, citing his impactful, accessibility to members of his constituents and representation at the National Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the youth after handing the nomination and expression of interest forms to the federal lawmaker, Mr Seyi Ogundipe said the fund was contributed by beneficiaries of the lawmaker’s empowerment initiatives, most particularly those who had secured employment through his efforts.
He said the lawmaker had consistently prioritised youth development in the constituency, adding that over 500 indigenes of Akure had benefitted from job opportunities facilitated by Adesida.
“We believe in the principle of good governance. It is on this basis that those who have benefitted from the kind gesture of Adesida came together to contribute money and purchase the nomination form for him.

“It is his (Adesida) belief that youths should be taught how to fish instead of being given fish occasionally, especially with the high number of unemployed graduates.
“He has facilitated job opportunities for over 500 indigenes of Akure North and South. Those who benefitted are the ones who contributed to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms,” he said.
Responding, Adesida expressed surprise at the gesture, noting that he had initially planned to purchase the form himself.
The lawmaker said the development had renewed his interest in seeking another term, despite earlier reservations.
“I am very happy. It came as a surprise to me because I had planned to pay for the forms myself, but I was told they had already made arrangements to get them for me.
“Initially, I was not enthusiastic about contesting again. But this kind of encouragement has lifted my spirit. If it is about continuing to serve and advocate for our people, I am ready,” he said.
