The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has welcomed Governor Dauda Lawal and his supporters into the party following his defection.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC described the governor’s decision to join the ruling party as a significant development that would strengthen unity among the people of the state.

The statement noted that the party leadership, including the state APC leader and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, along with other leaders such as Ahmad Rufai Sani, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, and Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, as well as party executives under the chairmanship of Tukur Umar Danfulani, expressed readiness to support the governor.

According to the party, Lawal and his supporters have been recognised as full members and will enjoy all privileges accorded to APC members.

The party expressed optimism that this development would further strengthen unity within its ranks and improve its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC also urged members across the state to support the governor to ensure the success of Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda.

It added that the party remains confident that this political development will promote unity and contribute to the economic advancement of Zamfara State.
